Director Saailu Kampati, who made an impressive debut with last year’s Raju Weds Rambai, has emerged as one of the big winners at the Gaddar Film Awards announced by the Telangana government. He was honored with the Best Director award for his very first film, marking a remarkable achievement early in his career.

Saailu comes from a modest background in Telangana and entered the film industry without any formal training in filmmaking. What he did have, however, was a strong and compelling story. After struggling for a long time to find a producer, Saailu finally received support from filmmaker Venu Udugula. With the backing of ETV Win, the team managed to produce Raju Weds Rambai on a limited budget.

Before the film’s release, Saailu grabbed attention with a bold statement during the pre-release event. He openly declared that he would roam naked on the streets of Ameerpet if the film failed at the box office. While some saw it as overconfidence, the statement certainly created a strong buzz around the movie.

When the film finally hit screens, Raju Weds Rambai received a positive response from audiences. The climax in particular surprised viewers and turned out to be the film’s biggest highlight. Despite having no filmmaking background, Saailu successfully delivered a gripping film that performed well commercially.

The film’s success was also reflected at the Gaddar Film Awards, where Raju Weds Rambai bagged multiple honors. Apart from Best Director for Saailu Kampati, the film also won Best Film, Best Actor (Jury) for Chaitanya Jonnalagadda, and Best Male Playback Singer for Anurag Kulkarni for the song “Rambai Nee Meeda.”

With these major achievements, Saailu Kampati has once again made headlines. Now, the focus shifts to his second feature film, and audiences are eager to see what the talented director has in store next.
