Infosys Narayana Murthy Regrets his Decision

NR Narayana Murthy, one among the very successful Indian entrepreneurs, has had an amazing journey of 33 years as CEO & co-founder of Infosys.

Besides having plenty of reasons to cheer for, in his 3-decade long career, Murthy is now repenting his 2014’s decision to leave Infosys. Speaking to a national business channel on Monday, NRN Murthy said, ‘I regret quitting Infosys in 2014 although a lot of my founder colleagues told me not to leave Infosys, stay for few more years.’

‘Generally, I find that I am a very emotional person. A lot of my decisions are based on idealism and probably, I should’ve listened to them,’ he said by adding that he didn’t miss being on the Infosys campus daily.

Quickly after Murthy left the company, it passed on to Nandan Nilekani and then S Gopalakrishna and SD Shibulal. Finally, in the same year, former SAP board member Vishal Sikka took charge as CEO of second largest IT firm in India. It’s well-known that Narayana Murthy has been severely criticizing some of the policies by new management and went on to take swipe at Sikka’s annual package, lapses in government issues and severance pay to former employees.

The 70-year old IT veteran also recalled his best time during the interview. Murthy further said Infosys listing on NASDAQ (American Stock Exchange) was his most memorable moment and paraphrased it with Neil Armstrong’s line- ‘It was a small step for Nasdaq, but a giant step for Infosys and Indian IT.’
