Is ‘Geetha Govindham – 2’ On Cards?

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna starrer ‘Geetha Govindham’ which came in 2018 was a blockbuster success. This feel-good love story directed by Parasuram was made on a minimum budget and collected 130 crores at the box office. This is the biggest hit in ‘GA2 Pictures’ banner. It increased the market value of Rowdy immensely and Rashmika became a heartthrob for many. Bunny Vas scored a big success with this film as a producer.

Now, director Parasuram is yet to start a new project after ‘Sarkaru Vaari Pata’. He was supposed to direct Naga Chaitanya but it was shelved due to unknown reasons. Chaitanya is currently working on ‘Custody’ under Venkat Prabhu’s direction and he may work with the Akkineni hero after that. Sources say that Parasuram has agreed to make another project in ‘GA2 Pictures’ banner. There is a talk that it is going to be a sequel to ‘Geetha Govindham’. After this romantic comedy, Bunny Vas did not have a lot of success. Even Parasuram disappointed the audience with Mahesh Babu’s film despite its success.

Apparently, the script work is being done for the sequel and there is a lot of hype surrounding it in the industry circles. We need to see if Vijay Devarakonda does it or the makers select another hero. Even Rashmika is busy with a Hindi movie like ‘Animal’ and another pan-Indian flick like ‘Pushpa’. Reports suggest that the makers are going for a new heroine this time. Based on the concept, Parasuram and Bunny Vas are planning to develop into a franchise and make romcoms with fresh faces on a minimum budget as per reports.

We need to see if this project goes on floors this year or next year. Currently, Vijay Deverakonda is working on ‘Khushi’ under Shiva Nirvana’s direction. After ‘Liger’ failure, he even accepted Gautham Thinnanuri’s police story. Let us wait and see what happens.
