Until yesterday evening, there has been a huge drama surrounding the release date of Akhil Akkineni’s debut film, Akhil. Bringing down the curtain on the rumors of further delays, Akhil’s unit announced that the film will release on 11th November as a Diwali treat. This announcement has naturally caused ripples among the release dates of other films.
Bengal Tiger unit has already announced that their film will release on the 27th, with a good 2 weeks gap. Now, Nikhil’s Shankarabharanam, which was supposed to release on the 20th November, has been pushed to December 4th. However, the film’s writer and presenter Kona Venkat’s statement explaining the delay is drawing all the attention.
Explaining the reason behind his film’s delay, Kona said, “We have decided to release our SANKARABHARANAM on Dec 4th to give a grand welcome and uninterrupted run to AKHIL !!!!” while Kona’s intentions behind grandly welcoming a debut hero’s film is praiseworthy, it is his audacious statement of giving uninterrupted run to Akhil that is surprising.
Many are wondering if Shankarabharanam is really a threat to a huge film like Akhil which is releasing amidst all the hype and fans expectations. On the other hand, even Shankarabharanm is creating strong ripples in the trade circles with its striking trailer. But it cannot be seen as a threat to Akhil. In fact, if Akhil gets a hit talk, the story becomes the other way round.
