Tamil star hero Suriya is one of the biggest stars in South cinema. He has a huge market in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala. Known for his interesting films with unique ideas, Suriya has a lot of craze and people flock into theatres to watch his films. But it looks like the ‘Ghazini’ hero is slowly turning into an OTT star.
After a couple of big failures, Suriya made a perfect comeback with ‘Soorarai Pottru’ (Aakasam Nee Haddu Ra in Telugu). This film was produced by Suriya under his ‘2D Entertainments’ banner and he released it directly on Amazon Prime Video despite the warnings from distributors. Looking at the film’s success, his next film ‘Jai Bhim’ was also released on the same digital platform. The film received a lot of critical acclaim and many viewers praised it. The film is now getting international recognition.
Suriya, who witnessed the potential of OTT market has reportedly decided to produce films, web series and bring new talent into the industry through his deal with Amazon Prime Video. Apparently, he made an agreement with the top OTT platform and will be coming up with more content from now on. He realised that OTT is the future and sources say that his next few films are also going to release directly on the OTT platform.
Suriya’s upcoming film ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ was planned to hit the screens on 4th February. Directed by Pandiraaj, this film has cute lady Priyanka Arul Mohan playing the female lead. This movie is produced by Sun Pictures. Since releasing in theatres is not the best option, insiders reveal that the makers are in negotiations with the OTT platform. Looks like Suriya is gradually turning into an OTT star.
