Is the community trying to socially boycott Kodali Nani , Vallabhaneni Vamsi?

There is a buzz that the leaders of the Kamma community are trying to boycott both Vallabhaneni Vamsi and Minister Kodali Nani for their comments on Nara Bhuvaneswari. Recently, the leadership of the Kamma community met at Hyderabad and discussed the issue of the developments after the unsavoury incidents in the AP assembly.

The community has ruled that no politician should speak about the family members of other politicians. However, the meeting did not directly discuss the issue of boycotting both Nani and Vamsi. However, a core group meeting, which happened later, did discuss this. However, both Nani and Vamsi reportedly did not bother about this meeting.

Nani is reported to have said that he cared two hoots for such a social boycott. “If one community boycotts me, the other 149 castes will stand by me,” he is reported to have said. He said that if the community stops inviting him to the caste-related programmes, it is their problem. Vamsi too sounded defiant over the move to socially boycott them.

However, since Vamsi has publicly apologised for commenting on Nara Bhuvaneswari, there is no possibility of implementing a social boycott on him. But, Nani looked very defiant and said that there was no question of apologising. Given the caste composition of his assembly constituency, he need not bother if the community boycotts him.

Analysts say that such boycotts may actually boomerang on the community as it could spur a reverse polarisation of all other communities. It may actually end up benefiting the YSRCP.
