Bollywood actress Isha Koppikar recently recalled an interesting incident from her early days in cinema while shooting for the film Chandralekha, which marked her second outing as an actress and had her paired opposite Nagarjuna.
During one particular scene, Nagarjuna was supposed to slap Isha. Initially, Nag delivered a normal slap for the shot, but Isha felt that her reaction wasn’t coming out naturally. Determined to make the scene look authentic, she asked Nagarjuna to slap her for real. Though he was hesitant at first, Isha insisted, and finally, he agreed.
What followed was a marathon of 14 real slaps to capture the perfect take! By the end of it, the director okayed the shot, but Isha’s cheek bore clear finger marks as proof of her dedication. Speaking about the moment, she laughed, saying that while she couldn’t show anger in front of the camera, she definitely could have off the camera!
In the same interview, Isha also spoke about how South Indian cinema has grown over the years and is now influencing Bollywood. She said,
“When I worked in the South, no one really knew which film I was doing. But today, things have changed—everyone follows these films closely, and we are even remaking them. South cinema has now gained global recognition.”
