This businessman-turned-politician, who only joined politics in 2018, is now eyeing a ministerial post in Jagan’s government. As of now, he is an MP from Vizag. But, in the next elections, he wants to get into to the AP Assembly and become a minister. Nothing wrong in it, except that the MP wants to contest from an assembly constituency that already has a claimant within the YSRCP.
The MP – MVV Satyanarayan – is now planning to contest from Bheemili, which is currently held by former minister Avanthi Srinivas Rao. His acolytes and supporters are already working out strategy for the Bheemili constituency. The MP is emboldened by the reports that the surveys have shown that the popularity of Avanthi Srinivas Rao is on the wane in Bheemili. The surveys show that he may not win from Bheemili in 2024.
However, Avanthi’s supporters are claiming that Bheemili has Kapu dominance and MVV Satyanarayana, a Kamma, may not find favour among the Kapus. Hence, they feel that MVV is actually an outsider to Vizag and the people may not vote for him. They also argue that the MP’s popularity graph has nothing to boast of.
As a result, a cold war is on between both the MP and the former minister. Like MVV Satyanarayana, even Avanthi Srinivas Rao is also an outsider. But, he is said to have the support of the Kapus. Due to this battle of oneupmanship, the party workers in Vizag are a confused lot not knowing who to approach.
