Vaazha II Set to Fill Tollywood Box Office Summer Void
Tollywood box office is currently in search of a much-needed blockbuster this summer, as the rush of big releases has slowed down and smaller films have been dominating the ticket windows.
Although three films hit theatres last weekend, none of them managed to create strong buzz or sustain momentum at the box office. Titles like Papam Prathap, Thimmarajupalli TV, and Bad Boy Karthik received mixed responses. While Papam Prathap and Thimmarajupalli TV initially drew some attention, their collections dropped significantly by Sunday due to weak word of mouth.
In this scenario, the upcoming dubbed Malayalam release Vaazha II: Biopic of a Billion Bros is generating positive expectations. The film, despite being a sequel, is already enjoying strong buzz thanks to its blockbuster performance in Malayalam.
Directed by Savin SA in his debut and written by Vipin Das, Vaazha II is a coming-of-age comedy drama and a sequel to the 2024 hit Vaazha: Biopic of a Billion Boys. Released on 2 April 2026, the film has gone on to become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2026 and the fifth highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time.
Producer Sahu Garapati is optimistic about the film’s Telugu prospects. If Vaazha II opens to unanimous positive word of mouth here as well, it could emerge as a surprise box office success in the Telugu states.
