Jagan Backs NDA in VP Poll Despite INDIA Bloc Appeal

In Andhra Pradesh politics, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy continues to display contrasting stances—while he fiercely attacks Chandrababu Naidu and the NDA government in the state, he maintains a supportive equation with the same NDA leadership at the Centre. This was once again evident in the run-up to the Vice-Presidential election.

The opposition INDIA bloc fielded Justice Sudarshan Reddy, a Telugu candidate belonging to Jagan’s own community. However, despite personal and regional factors, the YCP chief chose to back the NDA’s nominee.

According to YCP sources, Justice Sudarshan Reddy personally spoke to Jagan over the phone on Sunday, requesting his support for the polls. In response, Jagan explained that the NDA had approached him much earlier, even before the INDIA bloc had finalized its candidate, and that he had already given his word of support to the ruling coalition.

Jagan emphasized his personal respect for Justice Sudarshan Reddy, acknowledging his contributions to the nation, but made it clear that his political commitment to the NDA had already been sealed. By turning down the INDIA bloc’s proposal, Jagan once again signaled where his loyalties lie—criticizing the NDA locally while standing firmly with them at the Centre.
