If the speculations doing rounds in the media circles are to be believed, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is all set to shift his office from Amaravati to Visakhapatnam in the last week of May.
According to these speculations, a muhurtham has been fixed at 8.30 am on May 28 to commence the operation of Chief Minister’s camp office in Visakhapatnam, as per the suggestions of Visakha Sarada Peetham seer Swamy Swaroopanandendra Saraswati.
The CM’s camp office, however, will not be located at Millennium Towers but in the newly-built premises of Grey Hounds Compound near Vignan College.
It is learnt, furniture required for the CMO has already been transported to Visakhapatnam in 20 lorries.
By deciding to operate from the port city, the chief minister apparently wants to instil confidence among the people of Visakhapatnam after the recent gas leakage incident near R R Venkatapuram village.
“He wants to send a message that Visakhapatnam is a safe and secure city and such accidents does not affect the brand image of the city. If the chief minister himself decides to shift to Visakhapatnam it will enhance the confidence of the people and gradually, the entire administration will also shift to the city in a phased manner,” a senior journalist from Visakhapatnam said.
However, it is not sure whether it is going to be only a camp office for CM or he will permanently shift to Visakhapatnam.
Since the state is yet to get out of the Coronavirus impact, there is a doubt as to whether the state government would take the risk of shifting the entire secretariat and other state administration to the port city.
