Jagan Indirectly Says, Welfare Schemes will Continue?

Andhra Pradesh and Sri Lanka almost became synonyms due to various political developments. Citing the example of Sri Lanka, the opposition parties have been expressing their concerns that Andhra Pradesh might also face similar situations like Sri Lanka and demanded the Government focus on revenue generation, not freebies distribution.

Over the past few weeks, we have been seeing the fight of opposition leaders. On the other hand, the Andhra Pradesh government led by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is not taking a back step on the welfare schemes and continuing them.

Not just continuing the schemes, the government is hitting back at the opposition saying that the opposition parties are unable to digest the news that the poor and beneficiaries are getting the fruits of welfare schemes and the government is getting a good name.

CM Jagan reached Ongole to release funds for the beneficiaries of the YSR Sunna Vaddi scheme. Addressing the gathering, Jagan had blasted Chandrababu Naidu, Yellow media, and Pawan. Without taking Pawan’s name Jagan said that CBN’s adopted son is also talking about the welfare schemes. Jagan said that we(government) are dealing with such monsters.

Jagan’s comments hint at one point that no matter what, the government will not stop the welfare schemes and the schemes will be continued. Fulfilling the election promises is good, but the financial situation of the state should also be considered while implementing the schemes.

The government is spending thousands of crores on welfare schemes. On the other hand, there is no revenue in the state on par with the amount that is being spent. Without capital and encouraging investments, the state is having a tough time. Forget about investments, the government is unable to even pay the salaries.

We have seen how the employees, teachers, and others have hit the roads to fight for their salaries and pay scales. Despite all this, the government is giving utmost priority to the welfare schemes to get a clear vote bank. Having a solid vote bank will help the YCP win the polls for sure, but what about the economy and the burden it has been facing?
