Jagan invites NRI donations for Nava Ratnalu!

Faced with severe financial constraints to implement his pre-election promises, YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday launched “Connect-to-Andhra” web portal, inviting donations for his pet schemes.

The website gives details of the funds that would be collected from donors, societies, Non-Residents Indians (NRIs) and CSR (corporate social responsibility) funds.

The government intends to raise Rs 1,000 crore through this initiative this financial year.

Jagan said details of any person willing to donate to the welfare schemes being implemented in their villages like Navaratnalu, Nadu-Nedu and other Government schemes, will be portrayed on the website.

Navaratnalu comprises nine welfare schemes meant to benefit various sections of people including farmers, women, children, students, unemployed and other sections people.

Nadu – Nedu is a programme that intends to bring in sea change in the government institutions such as schools and hospitals in terms of facilities and service.

“It’s a great opportunity to show your love for the state. It does not matter how much you help you can take up any activity in your village or your constituency or in your district or can donate any amount of money for the development”, Jagan said calling upon the Telugu speaking NRIs to do something to make this state better.

Ruling YSR Congress Party legislator from Mangalagiri, Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, offered his remaining tenure’s (close to 55 months) salary and perks for the Connect-t-Andhra initiative.

He handed over a letter to the Assembly officials to transfer his salary, allowances and other benefits as MLA every month to the Connect-to-Andhra account.
