Jagan Mohan Reddy Accuses Chandrababu Naidu of “Credit-Chori” in Housing Projects

YSR Congress Party president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy accused Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of blatant “credit-chori,” claiming that Naidu was shamelessly taking credit for housing projects that were initiated, sanctioned, and largely executed under the YSRCP government.

Taking to social media, Jagan asserted that in the past 18 months, Chandrababu Naidu’s administration did not acquire a single square yard for the poor, did not grant even one house site, did not sanction a single house, and did not spend a paisa on such housing. Yet, he is now publicly claiming that his government has built all the houses. Jagan called this a disgraceful attempt to convert others’ labor into personal glory, stating that someone who steals credit for others’ hard work is not a leader but merely a “playwright.”

Jagan highlighted that of the 300,092 houses Naidu boasts about, not one house-pattadar (site title) was issued nor a single house sanctioned by the current government. He clarified that under YSRCP rule, 140,010 houses were at the finishing stage, 87,380 raised to slab level, and 66,845 were under construction. He also reminded the public of the historic 743,396 house-warming ceremonies held on October 12, 2023.

The YSRCP government had issued 31.19 lakh house site pattas to poor women across 71,800 acres, sanctioned 21.75 lakh houses, and even amid disruptions, maintained progress on these projects. Jagan criticized Naidu’s administration for locking up remaining vacant plots meant for housing the poor and using “yellow media” to claim credit for YSRCP’s accomplishments.

He concluded that claiming others’ ideas and hard work, trying to grab house sites meant for the poor, and publicizing false achievements exemplifies Chandrababu Naidu’s “credit-chor” tactics, which Jagan said are deplorable and cannot go unchallenged.
