After previously facing widespread criticism for allegedly misusing the Andhra Pradesh Police Department to target TDP cadres during his tenure as Chief Minister, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is now turning his attention toward the same department with open threats and warnings.
In a recent interaction with YSRCP party workers, Jagan once again lashed out at the police. He warned that serious consequences await officers who he claims are troubling his party supporters. “Take note of every police officer and government official causing trouble,” Jagan said. “Once we return to power, we will bring them under our control. Even if they retire or leave the country, I’ll bring them back and show them ‘cinema.’ Not just any cinema — this will be cinema of a different level.”
These statements have sparked concern among civil society and officials, as they come from a former Chief Minister and current opposition leader. This is not the first time Jagan has used aggressive language toward law enforcement. He previously courted controversy for threatening to strip police officers of their uniforms — remarks that drew sharp condemnation from police associations and raised serious questions about his rhetoric.
Despite the backlash, Jagan continues with his combative tone, raising eyebrows about the implications of such statements for law and order and the morale of public servants in Andhra Pradesh.
