With YSR Congress winning AP Assembly Elections with a historic majority, doors are shutting for close aides of former Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s list of technocrats who were given plum posts in government bodies. Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugus (APNRT) is one such body that was created for the welfare of Telugus living abroad which was headed by Ravi Vemuru.
It is learnt that Ravi Vemuru has sent his resignation to the Chief Secretary as soon as TDP faced a drubbing defeat in the state assembly elections. There is information that the Jaganmohan Reddy-led government which will be formed on May 30th is also planning to scrap APNRT. Additionally, the investments arm of the government – Economic Development Board (EDB) and Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) also will undergo a major overhaul.
Those heading EDB and CRDA are all known to be loyal to Chandrababu. Aware of this fact, YSR Congress is mulling to rejig both the authorities as several allegations of pending applications not being moved have come to light. It is also learnt that several land allotments are pending from the CRDA despite receiving a clearance in 2017 and after.
In fact, these irregularities in land allotments and the interference of APNRT in the tenders process has also got the YSRCP interested to understand why there has been such a delay and hence, is willing to launch a probe into this. Due to these alleged irregularities, EDB which is responsible for covering MoUs and EoIs into investments also has behaved irresponsibly, without grounding several projects.
With all the three bodies accused of allegedly interfering in land allotments, YSRCP has its eye on them and wants to clean the mess that the previous government reportedly created!
