The Andhra Pradesh Assembly’s budget sessions officially commenced today, but as expected, YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his party members were notably absent. The session began with a brief introduction, during which Speaker Ayyannapatrudu addressed Jagan’s conduct in the Assembly the previous day.
The Speaker expressed strong disapproval of Jagan’s actions, calling for greater civic responsibility from the former chief minister. “Yesterday, we invited an honourable guest, the governor, to deliver the opening speech. However, Jagan instructed his MLAs to disrupt the proceedings by raising slogans and displaying placards, ultimately boycotting the session. This is highly unacceptable,” the Speaker remarked.
Ayyannapatrudu emphasized that Jagan, as a former chief minister and party leader, should demonstrate better decorum and respect for the Assembly. He stated that Jagan’s behavior, including aggressive gestures, not only disrespected the governor but also demeaned the dignity of the House.
It is evident that the Assembly is displeased with Jagan and his party’s approach, which aligns with his previous reluctance to engage in legislative discussions unless necessary for procedural obligations.
Meanwhile, instead of attending today’s budget session, Jagan chose to visit his Pulivendula constituency, where he is expected to spend the next few days.
