According to neutral observers, Jagan seems to value two things above all else: unwavering praise for himself and verbal assaults on his political rival, Chandrababu Naidu, especially when it involves degrading the latter’s family. This tendency has once again been highlighted with the latest development involving Duvvada Srinivas, a controversial figure within the YSR Congress Party (YCP).
Duvvada, a former MLA from Tekkali, has attracted his fair share of attention for his dramatic behavior over the past year. His personal life became a topic of discussion when he abandoned his family to live with his “friend,” Madhavi, leading to accusations of abusing and assaulting his wife and daughter. He also stirred controversy in interviews, making inflammatory political remarks, particularly during a public appearance in Tirumala, which sparked a significant backlash.
Despite these chaotic actions, no disciplinary measures were taken against him, suggesting that his frequent praise of Jagan may have kept him in the party’s good books. However, this situation took a turn following a public statement by Duvvada that seemed to cross a line—one that involved Nara Lokesh, the TDP leader and the son of Chandrababu Naidu.
In a recent interview, Duvvada was asked about the “sweetest person” after Nandamuri Balakrishna, to which he swiftly responded, “Nara Lokesh”. He went on to praise Lokesh, stating that Lokesh would make an excellent Chief Minister and could bring significant development to Andhra Pradesh. This praise of Lokesh appears to have set off a chain of events, culminating in Duvvada’s suspension from the YCP.
What’s intriguing is that Jagan and the YCP leadership had turned a blind eye to Duvvada’s personal controversies, where he had created significant uproar and publicly humiliated his family. However, the moment Duvvada publicly praised Lokesh, the YCP took immediate action. The suspension seems to underscore that Jagan’s political decisions are deeply influenced by loyalty, particularly when it involves his arch-rival Chandrababu Naidu and his family.
