Jagan to Appear Before CBI Court After 7 Years

After a long gap, former Chief Minister and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy may once again have to appear before the CBI court. Reports indicate that the court has reminded him of his mandatory personal appearance on November 14, marking what could be his first court visit in nearly seven years.

Jagan, who is currently out on bail in the disproportionate assets cases filed by the CBI, used to attend court hearings regularly before the 2019 elections. However, after assuming office as Chief Minister, he was granted an exemption from personal appearance, citing administrative duties.

Now, the Hyderabad CBI court, which continues to hear the pending cases, has issued a reminder regarding his mandatory attendance. This development follows a petition filed by the CBI alleging that Jagan had provided a different contact number while seeking permission to travel abroad.

The court observed that the London trip issue had already been closed since Jagan had returned to India, but reaffirmed that his presence is required for the next hearing.

With this reminder, legal experts believe that Jagan Mohan Reddy may have to personally appear in court after a long hiatus. While CBI lawyers are insisting on his physical presence, Jagan’s legal team is reportedly exploring possible ways to avoid it.
