YSR Congress party president and Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is leaving for New Delhi on Tuesday morning, triggering various speculations in the media circles.
According to the sources in the government, Jagan has got an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday evening.
Though there is a talk that he might meet Union home minister Amit Shah as well, the appointment has not been officially confirmed yet.
While the CMO is bound to churn out the same old report listing out the issues to be raised by the chief minister with the Prime Minister, it is believed that there is definitely more to be discussed what would be there in the official agenda.
Sources said Jagan would explain to the Prime Minister the sequence of events that led to the recent high court judgement on Amaravati capital issue and how the judiciary had pushed his government to a tight spot.
The state government would require huge financial assistance from the Centre to complete the Amaravati capital project as directed by the state high court, in case the Centre too insists on the same.
Otherwise, the state government would require the Centre’s help in amending the AP Reorganisation Act to carve out three capitals for Andhra Pradesh. Jagan might place the options before the Prime Minister.
The chief minister is also likely to extend his party’s cooperation to the BJP in the President and Vice Presidential elections.
There is a talk that a high-profile personality, presently in a Constitutional position, is lobbying for the President of India post and he had already sought the cooperation of Jagan.
In the event of the Modi government choosing him as the Presidential candidate of the NDA, Jagan would offer his party’s support to the same, sources said.
