Jagan voted as the best CM – a PR stunt?

For the second time in a row, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy bagged the Chief Minister of the Year award from SKOCH group, India’s independent leading think tank dealing with socio-economic issues with a focus on inclusive growth. Last year itself, this piece of news was met with a great deal of criticism, and naturally, it has only increased this year.

People are now wondering whether this is the actual truth, or if this is all a paid publicity stunt. Given that the SKOCH group is a private institution, many are of the opinion that the company has been paid to name Jagan as the CM of the year. Not just the oppositions, but also the people of AP are of the opinion that they haven’t been benefitted in any manner after Jagan became the CM of AP.

To begin with, Jagan introduced the 3 capital bill, announcing that Amaravati wouldn’t anymore be the sole capital of AP. Then he barely was able to handle the coronavirus pandemic in the state. The state has gone into a deep financial crunch, something that the state hasn’t seen in its entire history. Moreover, not a single developmental activity has been taken up by Jagan’s government in all the time they have been in power. Burdens have only been increasing on the common man since Jagan came to power, so it is indeed questionable how he became the CM of the year.
