Andhra Pradesh politics has been stirred up following the arrest of former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi. He has been remanded for two weeks in connection with the 2022 attack on the TDP office in Gannavaram.
Vamsi’s arrest has rattled the YCP camp, with party leaders strongly opposing the move. Now, Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy has finally responded to the issue, expressing his stance on the matter.
Jagan criticized the way the TDP-led coalition government is handling Vamsi’s case. He alleged that a Dalit youth had testified before a judge, claiming that the ruling party pressured him into filing a false complaint. “Despite this, Chandrababu Naidu is determined to arrest Vamsi. Where is the law and order in the state?” Jagan questioned.
His response, however, was brief, leading TDP cadres to point out that he conveniently ignored the fact that Vamsi’s men had vandalized the TDP office in 2022—an incident that YCP leaders had dismissed at the time. Now that Vamsi is facing legal action for his past actions, Jagan is raising concerns about law and order.
TDP supporters have also highlighted Jagan’s lack of urgency over Vamsi’s arrest, as he was seen attending a wedding and later traveling to Bengaluru while the former MLA remains embroiled in legal troubles.
