Ever since YS Jagan took charge as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, he has been proactively transforming the face of liquor consumption and sale in the state. It looks like Jagan is determined to lead the state towards complete alcohol prohibition.
Now, the Andhra Pradesh Excise Department has issued a new diktat which will come into effect from Wednesday. The new rule prohibits any citizen from possessing more than 6 beers and 3 imported or local made liquor bottles. The new rule has reduced the permission to possess alcohol by almost half than earlier.
Indian made foreign liquor (3 bottles, any quantity), imported liquor (3 bottles, any quantity), 6 bottles of beer (650 ml), Methylated spirit (3 litres) and Toddy (2 litres) are the only permissible spirits that can be kept in a common man’s possession.
