In a piece of good news to India, a UK Court said fugitive jeweler Nirav Modi can be extradited to India and permitted India’s request to extradite Nirav Modi, who is facing charges of bank fraud.
Following the orders, the authorities at the Arthur Road jail in Mumbai have arranged a special cell in which Nirav Modi would be kept once he is brought to India from the United Kingdom, reports claimed.
According to the information, the jail is ready and Nirav Modi will be placed in barrack number 12, a high-security barrack. The barrack has three cells.
Nirav Modi was arrested and kept in a London prison in March 2019. Since then, the jeweler has been fighting a legal battle to get bail and escape extradition to India.
To mention the details about the status of prions in Maharashtra, the Centre sought details from the state. The same details were mentioned in the extradition suit before the court in the UK.
A local court in the UK was satisfied with the details provided by the Centre on the facilities provided by the prison and said Nirav Modi can be extradited to India.
