Slain model Jessica Lall’s sister Sabrina Lall sent a handwritten letter to the welfare officer at Delhi’s Tihar Jail stating that she has no objection to her sister’s Killer, Manu Sharma’s release and she has forgiven him now, owing to the fact that he has already spent 15 years in jail.
It has been twelve years since Manu Sharma was sentenced to life in prison for killing model Jessica Lall after she denied giving a drink at a party. Manu Sharma pulled out his gun and shot her at point-blank range, according to witness. She reportedly mentioned the words like ‘His conviction was closure to men’ and ‘let go of the baggage’ to move on.
Sabrina even acknowledged his good deeds of charity and helping inmates, considering them a reflection of reform, 49-year-old Sabrina sent this letter, dated March 5 and she also refused compensation. “My family has suffered a lot and this is a load off my chest’ she is said to have mentioned in the letter.
Six months back, 41-year-old Manu Sharma has been moved to open jail on grounds of good behavior. Manu leaves the prison for work every day morning and returns in the evening. Manu Sharma is the son of former minister and Congress politician Venod Sharma.
Manu spent around 15 years in prison from the time of his arrest, though he was granted a controversial parole of 30 days for the funeral of his grandmother in 2009 September, during which he was seen at a pub in Delhi and also got into a brawl. He was sent back to prison in the November of the same year and later was granted parole in 2011 for his younger brother’s wedding and the in 2013 for his Master’s degree exams.
