Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu’s latest act is drawing flak on social media. He is endorsing Pan Bahar and even acted in a TV commercial for the brand and this hasn’t gone down very well with netizens.
Pan Bahar has been facing allegations that its products contain tobacco and can consuming the same can lead to cancer. However, none of these allegations have been proven. Also, Pan Bahar had never agreed that they make addictive stuff. When it comes to their TV commercials and ads with top stars, they market their products as mouth fresheners.
Incidentally, netizens are now opining that Mahesh shouldn’t have endorsed a brand that is facing such allegations. “Mahesh, who enjoys superstardom shouldn’t be endorsing something that is facing allegations of marketing cancer-causing products,” say netizens. “What is the need for Mahesh Babu to do something like this?” they question.
Previously, Pierce Brosnan, a famous Hollywood actor was roped in as the brand ambassador for Pan Bahar. He then faced stern criticism for endorsing tobacco-based products. The actor was quick to react and dissociated himself from the brand. He withdrew from Pan Bahar’s ad campaign and even sued the company. He said he didn’t know that the brand was facing allegations of marketing tobacco products.
Now, Mahesh Babu has associated himself with the brand and subsequently is facing backlash. It remains to be seen how he will react to the same.
