Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD continues to make headlines even long after its theatrical release. The film, which emerged as one of the biggest blockbusters of last year with a global collection exceeding ₹1000 crore, has now been honoured with the “Film of the Year” award at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards 2025.
In a competitive category featuring acclaimed hits such as Pushpa 2, Stree 2, Hanu-Man and Amaran, Kalki 2898 AD stood out to claim the top honour. Meanwhile, Allu Arjun won the Most Versatile Actor award for Pushpa 2, and Sai Pallavi received the Most Versatile Actress award for her performance in Amaran.
Following the film’s cliffhanger ending, fans have been eagerly anticipating its sequel. Although the makers initially hinted that the second part would begin production this year, there have been no substantial updates so far. It is now confirmed that Deepika Padukone will not be returning for the sequel due to creative differences. With Prabhas currently occupied with multiple commitments, the sequel is likely to go on floors only in the second half of 2026, pending an official announcement.
For now, fans continue to wait for clarity on the next chapter in this ambitious cinematic universe.
