Kalyani Priyadarshan, a rising star in Malayalam and Telugu cinema, is set to headline the female-centric superhero film Lokah, which will also release in Telugu as Kotha Lokah. After making her Telugu debut with Akhil’s Hello and gaining recognition for her performances in Malayalam films, Kalyani is now stepping into a genre that blends superhero elements with the cultural essence of Kerala.
The teaser for Lokah has already generated considerable attention, exceeding the team’s expectations. In a recent interview, Kalyani acknowledged the overwhelming response but emphasized that the film is not intended to compete with international blockbusters like Marvel or Dune. She explained, “We want audiences to know that they are still going to watch a Malayalam film. We are blending the superhero element with all the other things that Malayalees are familiar with.”
Lokah aims to strike a balance between excitement and authenticity, presenting a superhero narrative deeply rooted in Malayalam cinema, reminiscent of the tone set by Minnal Murali. The film also stars Naslen and is presented by Dulquer Salmaan. Scheduled for release on 28th August, Lokah marks a pivotal moment in Kalyani Priyadarshan’s career, offering audiences a fresh, culturally nuanced take on the superhero genre.
