Kamal Haasan has a strong message for new age filmmakers on creating classics

Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan is undoubtedly one of the best actors in Indian cinema. He made his acting debut as a child artist and established himself as one of the versatile actors in the country. In his illustrious career, he became a part of several classic and cult classic films.

Kamal Haasan’s ‘Michael Madana Kamarajan’ remains one of the cult classics not only in Tamil Cinema but in Indian cinema. The Dasavatharam star Kamal Haasan portrayed four different getups in the film.

Director Alphonse Putheran, who was behind films like ‘Premam’ and ‘Neram’ asked Kamal Haasan to do a masterclass on ‘Michael Madana Kamarajan’. A few other directors have also requested Kamal do the same.

Kamal Haasan accepted their request and took to Instagram to do a masterclass with a series of pictures. He shared an interesting trivia behind the making of ‘Michael Madana Kamarajan’.

Kamal Haasan has advice for the new filmmakers too. He said that instead of getting impressed by the films which the actors did 30 years ago, they should make classic films on their own.

“When I said master class I was not talking about me as the master. The reason I did not teach is because teaching needs a bigger sacrifice, that which equals a mother. I am a student, a perennial student which means I am more selfish than a teacher and I am willing to learn with the class but to address a class am not too sure,” Kamal Haasan said in one of the Instagram posts.

Kamal Haasan showered praises on filmmakers like K. Balachander, Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, and Ananthu who created space for him to excel in the space and called the filmmakers his masters.
