Kamala Harris Outpaces Trump with Record-Breaking $361 Million Fundraising in August

In August, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris raised a significant amount of money for her campaign, bringing in $361 million from nearly 3 million donors. This amount is more than double the $130 million that former President Donald Trump raised during the same time. Harris’ campaign reported having $404 million available by the end of August, which is $109 million more than what Trump’s campaign had.

Harris’ funds are being used for a $370 million media campaign and to support over 2,000 field workers stationed in more than 310 offices in key battleground states. Her August success builds on the $310 million she raised in July, which largely came after she took over President Joe Biden’s campaign following his withdrawal. This shift in leadership has boosted Democratic fundraising, as previously, Trump had the advantage due to concerns about Biden’s ability to run for another term.

Harris’ campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, emphasized that Harris has built a diverse and motivated coalition of supporters, ready to win the election. Rodriguez stated that they are focusing on using every dollar to reach voters who will play a key role in deciding the election’s outcome. It’s important to note that the fundraising totals released by both campaigns do not include the full Federal Elections Commission filings, which are expected later. Both campaigns’ totals also account for money raised by their national parties and associated committees.
