The highly anticipated mythological epic Kannappa, starring Vishnu Manchu, released in theatres across India on June 27 to an encouraging response. Helmed by director Mukesh Kumar Singh, the film has garnered pan-India attention not only for its grand narrative but also for high-profile cameo appearances by Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and Malayalam legend Mohanlal.
According to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk, Kannappa grossed approximately ₹10.5 crore on its opening day, with a net collection of around ₹9 crore. While the final official figures are awaited, the initial numbers indicate a promising start at the box office.
The film reported impressive occupancy levels, particularly in Telugu-speaking regions with 51.23% occupancy on Day 1. Other regional markets showed moderate interest, with Tamil at 14.37%, Kannada at 12.75%, Hindi at 11.08%, and Malayalam at 5.87%.
Released on over 2,000 screens nationwide, Kannappa marks a major pan-India cinematic event, showcasing the growing appeal of mythological storytelling across diverse linguistic audiences. Despite facing competition in the Hindi belt from Kajol’s emotional drama Maa, Kannappa has managed to carve out a strong opening, reinforcing its commercial viability and broad audience reach.
