Kantara: Chapter 1, headlined by Kannada superstar Rishab Shetty, continues its remarkable run at the box office across India, even in its third week. The prequel to the 2022 blockbuster released on October 2nd amid high expectations and opened to a phenomenal response in all territories, fueled by strong pre-release hype and visually striking trailers.
The film has made history in Kannada cinema, becoming the highest-grossing film ever in Karnataka with a collection of ₹200 crores in just 18 days. It has also performed exceptionally well in Telugu-speaking states and the North Indian circuit. While the Telugu version’s theatrical run is nearing its end due to new Diwali releases, the Hindi version continues to post strong numbers, benefiting from limited competition in Bollywood.
In its third weekend, the period folklore action drama witnessed robust footfalls in North India, grossing over ₹15 crores net from the Hindi version, including the Diwali holiday. This brings the film’s overall tally to nearly ₹180 crores in 19 days, putting it on track to cross the ₹200 crore mark in its full theatrical run.
Meanwhile, Rashmika Mandanna’s much-anticipated horror-comedy drama Thamma is set for a wide release across North India on Tuesday. With teasers and trailers generating significant buzz for its engaging content, the film is expected to register a strong opening day at the box office.
