Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, which has already surpassed ₹700 Crores worldwide, has made history at the Kannada box office by becoming the first film to cross the coveted ₹200 Crore mark in Karnataka. The folklore drama achieved this milestone on its 18th day, surpassing the lifetime collections of its predecessor Kantara, which had grossed ₹183 Crores.

Released on October 2, Kantara: Chapter 1 opened to massive expectations and benefited from glowing word-of-mouth and positive critical reviews. The film recorded strong footfalls over its opening weekend and sustained impressive performance throughout weekdays.

The prequel demonstrated robust occupancy figures across Hindi circuits and South Indian markets during its first two weeks. While its global success reinforced the growing popularity of the Kantara franchise, the ₹200 Crore achievement in Karnataka stands as a landmark for Rishab Shetty’s home-state success.

Unlike previous pan-India hits such as KGF 2 and Kantara, which failed to enter the ₹200 Crore club in Karnataka, this prequel has finally delivered the breakthrough for the Kannada trade. Rishab Shetty has once again showcased his versatility as both a director and actor, with his compelling performance and engaging storytelling earning widespread acclaim.

Adding to its accolades, Kantara: Chapter 1 became only the second Kannada film, after KGF 2, to surpass ₹100 Crores in overseas collections, further cementing its status as a pan-India blockbuster.
