Karnataka Probes Sudden Heart Attack Deaths in Hassan

In a deeply concerning development, over 20 people have reportedly died of heart attacks within a single month in Karnataka’s Hassan district, triggering widespread alarm among the public. Responding to the situation, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah described the deaths as “alarming” and ordered a thorough investigation.

A special expert committee, headed by Dr. Ravindranath from the Jayadeva Institute, has been formed to probe the sudden spike in fatalities. The panel is expected to submit its findings within 10 days, offering insights into possible causes and preventive measures.

The Chief Minister revealed that the same committee was previously assigned a similar investigation in February, focusing on sudden deaths among youth and potential links to COVID-19 vaccines. While urging the public not to jump to conclusions without scientific evidence, Siddaramaiah acknowledged that some international studies had flagged concerns about heart-related issues possibly linked to vaccines.

He also criticized opposition BJP leaders for allegedly politicizing the incident instead of addressing the root issue.

To address rising heart health concerns, the state government has launched initiatives such as Hridaya Jyothi and Gruha Arogya, aimed at early detection and timely treatment of cardiac conditions. The Chief Minister advised people to take symptoms like chest pain and shortness of breath seriously and seek immediate medical attention.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, Siddaramaiah assured that every step will be taken to uncover the cause behind these tragic deaths and to protect public health moving forward.
