Telangana politics are gradually heating up, even with more than two years left for the next elections. Adding fresh buzz to the scene is BRS MLC Kavitha, who is actively shaping her own political identity.
In a recent media interaction, Kavitha stated that she plans to launch her political journey with “an old name and new principles.” Her remarks have triggered strong political discussion, especially among loyalists of KCR and KTR.
She also made a key observation that the name Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is now in the public domain, suggesting that anyone may be able to use it going forward. Kavitha pointed out that after KCR renamed the party as Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), the old TRS identity was effectively left unused and could now be accessible for revival.
Her comments have fueled speculation that she may be considering using the TRS name for her own political platform. Given TRS’s deep emotional connect and strong recognition among Telangana voters, such a move—if it materializes—could have significant political implications.
Meanwhile, there is also ongoing speculation within political circles about whether the BRS leadership itself may consider reverting to the TRS name, citing concerns over losing regional sentiment associated with Telangana identity politics. However, if Kavitha moves first and stakes claim to the TRS brand, it could potentially complicate any such plans for the BRS camp in the future.
Political observers note that with the opposition already challenging BRS under Revanth Reddy’s leadership, an emerging internal narrative around party identity and legacy could add another layer of complexity to Telangana’s evolving political landscape.
