Telangana CM KCR seems to have readied a New Year gift for his daughter and ex-MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha. Having lost from Nizamabad Parliament seat in the hands of BJP candidate D Aravind, Kavitha is not active these days in politics and also during the Bathukamma festival, she was hardly seen.
There came reports that Kavitha might contest the Huzurnagar by-election but she condemned them and added that she will stay in Nizamabad at any cost. Now KCR is planning to send her to Rajya Sabha. TRS party general secretary K Keshav Rao’s tenure in the upper house will end in April 2020. Instead of giving a second opportunity for Keshav Rao, KCR wanted his daughter to go to the Rajya Sabha.
Very recently Kavitha targeted PM Modi regarding the funds allocation to the Telangana state. KCR feels that there should be a stronger voice in Rajya Sabha for Telangana and consistently raise the issues pertaining to state in Parliament.
For now, KCR will be occupied by the municipal elections and he will take a final call on it after the polls. But there are many contenders for the Rajya Sabha seat. Will KCR prefer his daughter or pick any other name is something we need to wait till next year.
