In a strange case, Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao surprise all the members of Telangana Legislative Assembly when he showered praises on TDP Founder and former CM of AP Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao.
In a debate with Telangana Congress leaders in the house, KCR clarified on the opportunities provided to people of all sections and explained about how Congress has a bad legacy of ignoring different sections of people. ” We all have histories. Someone who has recognised BCs and fought for their rights and provided place in the government postings and opportunities is Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. Yes, it is true and no one can deny that,” KCR said, while TRS legislators applauded him.
Not stopping at that and acknowledging that he was a TDP karyakarta, KCR said: “Even you were in Telugu Desam Party then, Mr. Speaker. I too was in TDP at the time. This Congress hasn’t done anything for BCs. During Congress’ rule, except for landlords, no one got any place or opportunity. Where was social justice when Congress ruled AP? Congress’ legacy has all Doras (from different villages and mandals). These are not my words. It is Indian history and there are several books written on this.”
“They (the groups of leaders who were landowners) became MLAs and MPs and local leaders. Not backward castes or SCs or STs. It is Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao who brought various sections into politics and gave them opportunity to contest and saw them as worthy of any opportunity,” KCR said, adding that Congress legacy is fraught with opportunists. These words of praise for NTR caught several TRS leaders by surprise as KCR acknowledged TDP’s work for social justice.
