Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) president and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday announced key changes in the party’s legislative leadership in the Telangana Assembly. The reshuffle is aimed at strengthening coordination and improving the party’s effectiveness on the floor of the House.
As part of the new structure, KCR—who continues as the BRS floor leader and Leader of the Opposition—appointed Siddipet MLA T. Harish Rao, Maheshwaram MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy, and Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav as deputy floor leaders in the Assembly.
In the Telangana Legislative Council, senior leaders L. Ramana and Pochampally Srinivas Reddy were named as deputy leaders, while Desapati Srinivas was appointed as the party Whip. Senior leader S. Madhusudhana Chary will continue as the BRS floor leader in the Council.
Notably, KCR’s son and senior party leader K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) did not feature in the latest set of appointments. Political analysts suggest that KCR may be dissatisfied with the way KTR has been handling party affairs and believes that Harish Rao can manage Assembly strategy more effectively.
Party sources stated that the reshuffle is intended to ensure better coordination, stronger discipline, and clearer articulation of the party’s stand during Assembly proceedings. The BRS leadership expressed confidence that the revamped legislative team would enhance the party’s performance and help consolidate its position as a strong and effective opposition in the Telangana Assembly.
