After leading the Telangana Legislative Assembly for nearly a decade, former Chief Minister and BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) largely stayed away from the House following his defeat in the 2023 Assembly elections. His last appearance in the Assembly was limited to completing oath-taking formalities, after which he maintained a notable distance from legislative proceedings.
That phase, however, may be nearing its end. In a recent closed-door meeting with Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) cadres, KCR hinted at a possible return to the Assembly, stressing the need for the party to adopt a more aggressive and proactive approach as the principal opposition. He underscored the importance of taking both the BJP at the Centre and the Congress government in Telangana head-on by highlighting their alleged lapses and policy shortcomings within the House.
“We need to fight extremely hard in the Assembly and present our case effectively as the main opposition party,” KCR reportedly told party leaders, signalling a renewed focus on legislative confrontation.
Amid this backdrop, internal discussions within the BRS suggest that KCR could attend Assembly sessions starting December 29. If this materialises, it could set the stage for a high-voltage face-off between KCR and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy—two formidable and outspoken political figures. Such an encounter is expected to draw significant attention, potentially redefining the tone and intensity of debates in the Telangana Assembly in the coming days.
