Apparently realising that not extending invitation to his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu for the World Telugu Conference has caused a lot of damage to his reputation and showed his mean mentality, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have gone into a damage control mode. The Chief Minister’s Office authorities called up media offices late on Saturday night and leaked the information saying KCR really wanted to invite Chandrababu Naidu, but did not do so, after coming to know the latter’s hectic schedule.
“KCR decided to invite Naidu and even asked the officials to make arrangements to receive him. However, after coming to know that the AP chief minister would not be available because of his Maldives Trip and other official engagements, he dropped the idea,” official sources said. The CMO went on to explain that both the chief ministers have come to an agreement that they would work together for the development of Telugu language in both the states.
“Naidu understood the situation and took the issue positively,” sources said.
The explanation given by KCR’s office was not convincing, as Naidu himself clarified that he had not received any invitation from the Telangana government, but wished all the best for the conference.Whether Naidu comes or not is a different question, but KCR should have extended an invitation. If the AP chief minister was not in a position to come to the conference, he would have at least sent his representative or message.
