Some actors retreat after a lukewarm debut—but Keerthy Suresh is clearly not one of them. Following the underwhelming response to her Bollywood debut Baby John, the National Award-winning actress is gearing up for a far more grounded and issue-driven return to Hindi cinema.
According to early reports, Keerthy’s next Hindi film will tackle the complexities of India’s education system. The yet-to-be-titled project pairs her with Rajkummar Rao, who is not only starring opposite her but also producing the film under his home banner. The film will be directed by Aditya Nimbalkar, known for Sector 36, and is expected to go on floors in Mumbai this June.
This time, Keerthy will step into the role of a bold and fearless educationist—one who challenges the deep-rooted flaws in the system, including commercialization and unethical institutional practices. It’s a character that aligns with the socially conscious roles she’s known for, especially after her acclaimed performance in Mahanati.
While Baby John may not have delivered the breakout she hoped for, Keerthy is clearly not letting one setback define her trajectory in Bollywood. Her second innings seems poised to leave a stronger, more meaningful impact—one built on substance over spectacle.
