BRS working president K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) has taken up the responsibility of leading the party during a challenging phase, with former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao maintaining a relatively low profile after the party’s defeat in the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections.
As part of strengthening the party’s connect with the younger generation, KTR organized a protest named Yuva Sangramam, focusing on employment opportunities for students and youth in Telangana. The protest targeted the alleged failures of the Revanth Reddy-led government regarding job creation and recruitment promises.
Addressing the gathering, KTR challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s claim of providing 70,000 government jobs after assuming office. He stated that he would quit politics permanently if the government could prove that the claimed number of jobs were actually provided with proper notifications and recruitment procedures.
At the same time, KTR acknowledged that certain mistakes occurred during the previous BRS government’s tenure, particularly concerning examination-related issues. He suggested that the lack of strict action against those responsible had affected the party’s image among the public.
The Yuva Sangramam witnessed a significant presence of young supporters, with KTR attempting to rebuild the BRS’ connection with the youth. However, the key challenge for the party remains whether past controversies, including allegations related to question paper leaks and concerns over employment opportunities during the previous regime, will continue to impact its political prospects ahead of the 2028 elections or whether voters will move beyond those issues.
