KTR Criticized for Strong Remarks on Government Officials

BRS working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has landed in controversy following his sharp remarks against government officials during a recent public meeting.

In a video that has gone viral, KTR can be heard saying, “Collector gaani, vaani Ayya gaani,” implying that he doesn’t care whether a person is a Collector or not — they must behave properly. While these comments drew cheers from his party supporters, they have triggered criticism from several quarters outside the party.

Political observers point out that such statements come across as a direct warning and could create unnecessary pressure on IAS officers and other government staff. Critics question why a senior leader like KTR, who has over a decade of administrative experience as a minister, is resorting to such aggressive language after the party’s electoral defeat.

Analysts say that while fiery remarks might energize the party’s cadre, they fail to resonate with the general public, who expect seasoned leaders to display restraint, dignity, and respect for public institutions. Similar trends of strong words against officials were also observed in neighboring Andhra Pradesh during the tenure of former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The incident has sparked a wider debate on the tone and responsibility of political discourse in the state.
