KTR Slams Revanth Reddy Over National Herald Case Link

The political rivalry between Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) is no secret. The two leaders rarely miss an opportunity to take jabs at each other, and the latest development in the National Herald case has provided KTR with fresh ammunition.

Earlier today, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a charge sheet in the National Herald money laundering case, in which the name of Revanth Reddy surfaced. While the Telangana CM has not been named as an accused, the ED has listed him among the individuals who may have been involved in orchestrating aspects of the operation.

Seizing the moment, KTR launched a scathing attack on Revanth, branding him the “bag man of Telangana.” He alleged that the chief minister’s corrupt practices have turned the state into a hub for financial misdeeds, dubbing it the “ATM of Scamgress.” KTR claimed that the inclusion of Revanth’s name in the National Herald probe is a clear indication of deep-rooted corruption under Congress leadership.

The National Herald case revolves around allegations against senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, who are accused of misappropriating assets of the now-defunct newspaper National Herald by acquiring its parent company, Associated Journals Limited, for just ₹50 lakh through questionable approvals back in 2010.

As per the ED’s charge sheet, Revanth Reddy, who was an MLA at the time, is believed to have directed multiple individuals in 2022 to donate around ₹80 lakh to the National Herald, raising suspicions about the intent and legality of these transactions.

Adding to the political heat, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has also been named in the ED’s report, further deepening the Congress party’s involvement in the ongoing investigation.

With KTR escalating his attacks and the ED tightening its probe, the political landscape in Telangana is bracing for yet another wave of high-voltage drama.
