The political landscape in Telangana remains centered around K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, with both leaders frequently engaging in verbal exchanges. One of the key points of contention has been the Formula E scam case, which initially saw progress after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) was tasked with investigating alleged financial irregularities linked to KTR. However, the case has since lost momentum.
In this backdrop, KTR has now taken a sharp dig at Revanth Reddy, using the Formula E controversy and drawing a comparison with the upcoming Miss World 2025 event, which is set to take place in Hyderabad from May 7.
“Apparently, spending ₹46 Crore for the Formula E race in Hyderabad was wrong & will attract cases being filed. But spending ₹200 Crores of public money to conduct Miss World, a beauty contest, is right! What is this perverse logic? Can you please explain?” KTR questioned.
KTR argues that while the Formula E race, which was conducted during BRS rule, was criticized and scrutinized for alleged corruption, Revanth Reddy’s government is now preparing to spend a significantly larger sum—₹200 crore—on hosting the Miss World competition. He further claimed that the Formula E event elevated Hyderabad’s global image, questioning what tangible benefits the Miss World event would bring to the city.
On the other hand, Revanth Reddy has justified his government’s decision, stating that hosting international events like Miss World aligns with his vision of transforming Hyderabad into a truly global city. He also clarified that the controversy surrounding Formula E was not about the event itself but about the alleged financial mismanagement by KTR during its execution.
With both sides intensifying their arguments, the debate over public spending on international events continues to be a politically charged issue in Telangana.
