Kunal Kamra Takes on Ambani and BJP Over Russian Oil Deals

Share

Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra is no stranger to controversy, often targeting the ruling party in his routines. Known for his fearless digs at politicians and industrialists alike, his past online spat with Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal is still remembered.

Recently, Kamra released a new video that stirred debate, this time moving beyond comedy into serious allegations against the BJP government. Referring to India’s purchase of discounted Russian oil, he claimed that only the Ambani empire has reaped the benefits.

According to Kamra, “India buys crude oil cheaply from Russia, it is refined by Reliance, and then exported to countries barred from buying Russian oil directly due to US sanctions. The profit stays with Ambani, while the Indian public sees no relief. In contrast, China passes on the cheaper rates to its citizens.”

He went a step further, alleging that Ambani even managed to push through a special Bill exempting firms like Reliance from paying taxes on windfall profits.

In effect, Kamra echoed recent remarks by US Trade Advisor Peter Navarro, who said, “Brahmins are profiteering at the expense of the Indian people.” Kamra clarified that the term “Brahmins” here referred not to caste but to a privileged elite class.

Whether one agrees with Kamra’s claims or not, his audacity in openly questioning both Mukesh Ambani and the ruling establishment has once again put him in the spotlight.
