Actor-filmmaker Lakshmi Manchu, who has been relatively absent from the Tollywood scene in recent years, is set to make a striking re-entry—this time in the Bollywood space. After her recent appearances in Disney+ Hotstar’s Yakshini (2024) and Netflix’s Pitta Kathalu (2021), Lakshmi has shifted base to Mumbai and has been largely away from Tollywood circles.
The actress surprised fans and industry watchers alike by featuring prominently in the trailer of the much-anticipated Bollywood reality show, The Traitors, helmed by renowned filmmaker Karan Johar. The show, which was unveiled yesterday, showcases Lakshmi alongside a star-studded lineup of Bollywood personalities in a high-stakes game of survival set against the regal backdrop of Rajasthan’s Suryagarh Palace.
The Traitors will be hosted by Karan Johar and is slated for release on Amazon Prime Video starting June 12, 2025. Alongside Lakshmi Manchu, the show features a diverse ensemble including Purav Jha, Karan Kundrra, Harsh Gujral, Ashish G Vidyarthi, Apoorva aka Rebel Kid, Uorfi Javed, Jasmine Bhasin, Raftaar, Elnaaz Norouzi, Nikita Luther, Anshula Kapoor, Raj Kundra, Janvi Gaur, Maheep Kapoor, Jannat Zubair, Mukesh Chhabra, Sudhanshu Pandey, Sahil Salathia, and Sufi Motiwala.
This venture marks an important milestone in Lakshmi Manchu’s career, signaling a potential foray into Bollywood and the OTT space beyond her established roots in Telugu cinema. If The Traitors succeeds in capturing audience attention, it could well open new avenues for Lakshmi in the Hindi entertainment industry.
