India’s software technology giant shocked all by starting a laying off process from Dec 8th without prior intimation across various centres in the country. TCS started lay off process at Bengaluru, Kolkota, Pune, Mumbai and others. Reports indicated that TCS is planning to restructure as a part of optimising its workforce and this is expected to be completed by Feb 2015.
TCS sources say restructuring is aimed at 25000 senior employees. Already 10% of the employees have been given pink slips and with reports of more about to receive pink slips, TCS employees decided to file complaint against mass sacking.
Even as reports came that employees are planning to approach Labour commissioner, Sripada, Deputy Labour Commissioner said employees have not yet filed any official complaint. He said once he gets it, he will take appropriate action.
