Synopsis:

Life is Beautiful is the story of widow (Amala) and her three children. A tragic incident in her life forces her to send her children  Srinu (Abhijith) and his sisters Sathya(Rashmi) and Chinni to relative’s house. They soon become thick friends with Abhi (Kaushik) and Nagraj (Sudhakar) and go about their daily life, experiencing small joys.

Youngsters of the B phase block have a long standing rivalry with the arrogant rich kids of the Gold Phase of the Sunshine Colony.. And the rest of the story is the changes that took place in their lives (Including hero) after they come to the colony.  There is also three love stories which bloom there and what happens rest forms the actual story.

Performances:

Amala Akkineni is simply superb in the role of a widow who fights destiny. She looked gorgeous in the opening of the film, and delivered classy performance during the dying moments.Shriya gets a good role but acting with all the young ones made her look older. Anjala Jhaveri gets a next door aunty character on whom people go mad. A very little role.

All the new comers Abhijith, Sudhakar, Kaushik, Shagun and Zara delivered a decent performance and added to the fresh feel needed for the movie. The comedy rendered by Nagaraju (Sudhakar) in Telangana slang was one of the major highlights.

Analysis:

The first half of the movie is a jolly ride. And the problem is with the never ending second half with less lighter moments but yes there are some excellent sentimental scenes more particularly towards the climax. It is unpardonably long and quite a lot could have been chopped off on the editing table. Narration tends to drop off to dangerously boring levels at a number of junctures in the film. Sekhar Kammula’s brilliance is seen in many scenes but they are badly knitted such that the feel of the movie is not carried.

Plus Points: casting, music, direction, cinematography

Minus Points: Screenplay, length of the movie

Final Say:

The length of the scenes and erroneous screen play will hamper the flow of the film.  A center crowds may take to the theaters because of Sekhar Kammula’s brand name, but B and C center crowds will find it tough to appreciate the movie.  However, for me, the movie was made with a honest intent to touch the hearts of people who are struck with monotonous busy lives. One time watch!

Roshan Kanakala starrer Mowgli has emerged as a major success in the OTT space following its New Year 2025 release on ETV Win. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sandeep Raj, the film has struck a strong chord with digital audiences, quickly climbing to the top of the platform’s trending list within hours of its premiere.

Though it began as an unconventional theatrical attempt, Mowgli has found its true audience online, where viewers are appreciating its rooted emotions and sensitive storytelling. The raw, forest-set narrative and the intense conflict between love and survival have resonated strongly, highlighting the growing appetite for content-driven cinema among Telugu audiences.

Roshan Kanakala’s earnest performance, paired with Sakshi Sagar’s impactful presence, has been widely praised, while Bandi Saroj Kumar’s menacing role adds significant weight to the film’s conflict. However, it is the film’s emotional depth and authenticity that have fueled strong word-of-mouth and repeat viewership.

Produced by People Media Factory, Mowgli stands as a clear example of how quality films can achieve a massive second life on OTT platforms. The non-theatrical rights have reportedly delivered substantial profits to the producers, who are delighted with the film’s widespread digital success. As viewership numbers continue to grow, Mowgli further strengthens ETV Win’s position as a go-to platform for meaningful Telugu cinema during the festive season.
