The relationship between senior Tollywood actors Chiranjeevi and Mohan Babu has always been a topic of discussion in the industry. While they are often seen as friends, there have also been moments of professional differences and competition between them. Several interesting incidents involving the two stars continue to be narrated within film circles even today.

Recently, senior writer and director Kanagala Jayakumar recalled an old incident during an interview, particularly from the time of the 1981 film Kirayi Rowdylu. The film was produced by Kranthi Kumar and featured Chiranjeevi, Mohan Babu, and Radhika in key roles.

Jayakumar shared that during the final stages of the film’s production, an interesting situation arose regarding the title credits. One day, when Kranthi Kumar reportedly received repeated calls from Mohan Babu, he asked Jayakumar to visit the actor and understand the issue.

When Jayakumar met Mohan Babu at his residence, the actor reportedly brought up the matter of title credits directly. Mohan Babu is said to have insisted that, being senior to Chiranjeevi, his name should appear first in the credits.

Jayakumar then conveyed this to the producer, expecting a resolution. However, Kranthi Kumar reportedly reacted with slight frustration, questioning whether the team should change credits based on such requests when they were funding the film.

To avoid conflict and ensure smooth completion of the project, the producer carefully considered a balanced solution. Eventually, the titles were designed in a way that Mohan Babu’s name appeared first, while Chiranjeevi’s name was given a special highlight at the end, ensuring both actors were respectfully acknowledged.

This incident highlights how even in earlier decades, star hierarchies and credit placements were highly sensitive matters in the film industry. It also reflects how producers and technicians often had to creatively manage ego clashes while maintaining harmony on set.

Overall, the episode once again reflects that the relationship between Chiranjeevi and Mohan Babu has been shaped by a mix of friendship, competition, and occasional professional differences over the years.
